Former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko has made reconciliation a central part of his campaign to become the next National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), promising to rebuild trust among members and bring back those who have become disillusioned with the party.
Mr Agyarko believes the NPP must resolve its internal differences and restore unity if it is to regain its strength and mount a serious challenge in the 2028 general elections.
He made the commitment while engaging party members and the media during his tour of constituencies in the Eastern Region as part of his campaign for the National Chairmanship position.
According to him, the party’s current challenges require leadership capable of bridging divisions rather than deepening them.
He said he would position himself as a “bridge” between the party and members who have become aggrieved, disgruntled or have distanced themselves from its activities.
Mr Agyarko urged NPP members to look beyond individual disagreements and prioritise the collective interest of the party.
He argued that rebuilding the NPP would require deliberate efforts to heal internal wounds, strengthen party structures and create an environment where all members feel included.
The former Energy Minister maintained that reconciliation and inclusive leadership would therefore form the foundation of his administration if given the mandate to lead the party as National Chairman.
He further appealed to delegates across the country to support his bid, citing his experience, competence and leadership credentials as qualities that could help unite the party and prepare it for the 2028 elections.
For Mr Agyarko, restoring cohesion within the NPP is a necessary first step towards rebuilding the party’s electoral fortunes and positioning it for a return to power.
