President John Dramani Mahama has directed Ministers, Chief Executives, board members and other government appointees to uphold discipline, accountability and professionalism in the performance of their duties.
The President’s directive comes against the backdrop of recent changes within his administration, including ministerial reshuffles, the dissolution of some boards and planned changes to the leadership of selected state institutions.
According to the Presidency, the changes are aimed at strengthening leadership, improving coordination and ensuring that government appointees remain aligned with the administration’s policies and priorities.
In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, President Mahama stressed the need for all political appointees to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, diligence and humility.
The statement urged Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Chief Executives, board members and other appointees to respect established administrative procedures and work in the best interest of the Ghanaian people.
The Presidency warned that conduct or actions that could undermine institutional authority, weaken government cohesion or frustrate the implementation of government policies would not be tolerated.
It further reminded appointees that public office is a privilege that comes with a responsibility to serve the nation and deliver on the government’s mandate.
The performance of government appointees, the Presidency said, would continue to be assessed across various sectors as part of efforts to ensure effective delivery.
President Mahama, according to the statement, remains prepared to take further action where necessary to protect the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his administration.
“The President will take any further action necessary to safeguard the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his Administration,” the statement said.
The Presidency has therefore called on all government appointees to work collectively, respect institutional processes and maintain a strong commitment to delivering on the administration’s promises to Ghanaians.
