The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has been confirmed to be doing well after he collapsed while delivering a speech at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday, September 24.
The MP was addressing the audience on his personal experiences, leadership and commitment to public service when he suddenly appeared to lose consciousness on stage.
Moments before the incident, Mr Sosu had told the audience: “I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark.”
Those at the event quickly moved to assist him after he collapsed. He briefly appeared to regain consciousness and seemed prepared to continue with his address, but soon began to slump again.
He was subsequently helped off the stage and taken for medical attention.
In a statement issued later on Thursday, the Office of the Madina MP confirmed that he had received the necessary medical attention and was doing well.
The office acknowledged videos, reports and other content circulating on social media about the incident and urged the public to remain calm.
It also cautioned against relying on unverified reports or speculation regarding the MP’s condition, stressing that any further updates would be communicated through his official channels.
The office expressed appreciation to constituents, supporters and well-wishers for their concern, prayers and messages of support.
