Nana B, Nana Akomea to be sworn in as NPP Vice Chairmen today

Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, and Nana Akomea are expected to be formally sworn into office today, Tuesday, October 6, as the Second and Third Vice Chairmen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), respectively.

The two newly elected executives were absent from the swearing-in ceremony held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, shortly after the party’s National Delegates Congress and National Officers’ Elections.

Their absence meant they did not take the oath alongside the other newly elected national officers immediately after the elections.

Nana Akomea has, however, confirmed that the two will take the oath at the first meeting of the newly constituted national executive team scheduled for Tuesday.

“We have our first meeting on Tuesday, I think. Our first meeting as new executives and I am sure I will get myself sworn in,” he told JoyNews.

Nana Akomea had earlier explained that his failure to attend the initial ceremony was not due to dissatisfaction with the election results but because of traffic.

He said he arrived at the stadium about 10 minutes after the swearing-in had ended and only learnt of the results through his agents.

The expected ceremony will formally complete the process of Nana B and Nana Akomea assuming their respective positions within the party’s national leadership.

The NPP held its National Delegates Congress and National Officers’ Elections on October 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with delegates from across the country electing new national executives.

Henry Nana Boakye secured the position of Second Vice Chairman, while Nana Akomea was elected Third Vice Chairman.

Kwadwo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, emerged as First Vice Chairman after polling ahead of the other candidates.

The newly elected executives are expected to take charge of their respective portfolios as the NPP begins its next phase of organisational and political activities.
