Kojo Bamba explains absence from NPP leadership’s first meeting

New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairman-elect Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo “Bamba,” has dismissed speculation of tension within the party’s newly elected national leadership following his absence from its first meeting.

In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Kojo Bamba explained that he missed the meeting because he had another engagement that required his attention.

He said he was informed about the meeting with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia but sought permission from the party’s leadership to be excused because of his prior commitment.

According to him, his absence should not be interpreted as a sign of disagreement with the newly elected leadership.

“I had other engagements; that was why I couldn’t attend the meeting. I was aware of the meeting because I was informed.

“I asked for permission from the leadership, and I was permitted. So there is no bad blood between the leadership and me,” he said.

Kojo Bamba also denied reports circulating on social media that he is at odds with the NPP’s Second Vice Chairman-elect, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B.

He described Nana B as a close associate and said the two had worked together for about 10 years without any serious disagreement.

“Some of you are also saying that I have an issue with Nana B. I want you people to know that I don’t have any issue with Nana B. In fact, I have worked with him for about 10 years now, and we haven’t once argued,” he said.

He explained that although they pursued separate campaign activities ahead of the party’s national delegates conference, their political competition did not create a lasting rift between them.

“Before the delegate conference, we went our separate ways because we were all focused on campaigning, but after the conference, I called him and Nana Akomea… So there is no problem between us,” he added.

Kojo Bamba’s clarification comes amid social media speculation about possible divisions among the NPP’s newly elected national executives following the party’s national executive elections.
