Thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall are expected to persist across sections of northern Ghana on Saturday evening, while a large part of the country is forecast to remain under mostly cloudy skies.
According to the weather outlook for Saturday, August 1, 2026, some areas within the transition and middle belts are also likely to experience rain and thunderstorms from the evening through the night.
By early Sunday, patches of mist are expected to develop over forested and mountainous communities, potentially reducing visibility for drivers and other road users.
The forecast further indicates that relatively cool temperatures will prevail across the country during the night and into the early hours of Sunday.
In the southern and coastal regions, mostly cloudy conditions are expected in Aflao, Anloga, Accra, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kwahu Tafo, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Sefwi Bekwai. Ho is, however, expected to experience light drizzle.
Within the forest and transition zones, thunderstorms with possible rainfall are forecast for Kete Krachi, Atebubu, Ejura, Kintampo, Sunyani and Techiman. Meanwhile, Goaso and Sampa are expected to remain largely cloudy.
Across northern Ghana, thunderstorms and rain are anticipated in Yendi, Tamale, Bole, Damongo, Bolgatanga, Nalerigu, Wa and Jirapa.
The forecast also notes that sea conditions will remain calm.
Residents, especially motorists, are urged to exercise caution while travelling, as rainfall, mist and reduced visibility may create hazardous driving conditions in some parts of the country.
