Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region.
He polled 663 votes to secure victory over his only challenger, former Bantama Member of Parliament Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who garnered 269 votes.
The outcome was declared following the completion of voting and the subsequent collation of ballots at the party’s Ashanti Regional executive elections.
COKA, a former Chairman of the Afigya Sekyere South Constituency, will lead the NPP’s regional affairs as the party works to rebuild its structures, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and prepare for the 2028 general elections.
His election brings to an end a closely contested race that had attracted considerable attention within the party in the region.
The Ashanti Region remains a key electoral base for the NPP, making the new regional leadership particularly important as the party seeks to reorganise and recover from its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
COKA is expected to work with the newly elected regional executives to improve party organisation and strengthen the NPP’s presence across constituencies ahead of the next general elections.
