About 830 aspirants have picked nomination forms to contest various positions in the upcoming Greater Accra Regional elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The party has now closed the nomination-form picking stage and moved to the next phase, which requires aspirants to pay their filing fees and complete the submission of their documents through the designated online platform.
NDC Deputy Director of Elections, Mahdi Jibril, disclosed this in an interview with Channel One News, noting that a majority of the party’s incumbent regional executives have also picked nomination forms to retain their positions.
“About 830 aspirants have picked forms to contest for various positions. The majority of the incumbent executives have picked nomination,” he said.
Mr Jibril explained that aspirants who have picked forms must complete the remaining requirements before their nominations can be processed.
He said the online system remains open to candidates who have picked nomination forms but are yet to pay their filing fees and complete the required online submission.
Aspirants will also be required to submit their completed nomination documents physically to the Election Committee between October 14 and 15.
The process is expected to pave the way for the next stages of the NDC’s Greater Accra regional elections as the party prepares to elect its regional executives.
