The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant Boakye Agyarko has rejected a recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics that places former NPP General Secretary John Boadu ahead in the contest.
The poll, released on August 20, 2026, shows John Boadu leading the three-way race with 27% support, followed by Boakye Agyarko with 15%. Former NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko was also included in the survey.
However, Boakye Agyarko’s spokesperson, Vincent Frimpong Manu, has challenged the credibility of the findings, arguing that the survey did not specifically target the delegates who will vote in the party’s national executive elections.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr Frimpong Manu said the poll could not be considered a reliable measure of the actual state of the contest because its respondents were not drawn from the NPP’s electoral college.
“This did not target those who are actually going to vote,” he said.
He further noted that the survey was conducted before the NPP completed its recent regional executive elections, which have produced the delegates who will play a role in determining the party’s national leadership.
According to him, the composition of the electoral college and the preferences of delegates may have changed since the survey was conducted.
Mr Frimpong Manu therefore urged Global InfoAnalytics to conduct a fresh poll specifically among the delegates who will constitute the electoral college.
“What we would urge him to do is to actually focus on those who are going to form the electoral college when he gets the album, and then we would see where it is tilting towards. That would be the true picture,” he stated.
Despite the survey putting Mr Agyarko behind Mr Boadu, his campaign team insists its own assessment gives its candidate an advantage in the race.
“From what we know, Honorable Boakye Agyarko is already in the lead,” Mr Frimpong Manu added.
The Global InfoAnalytics poll also assessed the favourability of the three contenders.
John Boadu recorded the highest favourable rating at 61%, while 12% of respondents viewed him unfavourably, giving him a net approval rating of 49%.
Mr Agyarko recorded a 50% favourable rating against 17% unfavourable, resulting in a net approval rating of 34%.
Paul Afoko also obtained a 50% favourable rating, with 18% rating him unfavourably, giving him a net approval rating of 32%.
Regionally, Mr Boadu led in a number of areas, including Bono East, Greater Accra, North East, Northern, Upper East and Central regions.
Mr Agyarko, however, recorded notable levels of support in some regions, including 23% in Bono East, 22% in Greater Accra and 21% in the Central Region.
The dispute over the poll comes as the NPP intensifies preparations for its national executive elections, with the various candidates increasingly focusing on the delegates who will ultimately determine who becomes the party’s next National Chairman.
