Two people have lost their lives while seven others were injured in a road crash involving a Toyota Voxy at Abor Junction on the Mankessim–Accra Highway in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said it received a distress call at approximately 1:44 a.m., prompting personnel from the Mankessim Fire Station to respond swiftly to the scene.
Firefighters, working together with the National Ambulance Service, arrived to find nine occupants involved in the accident.
Among the victims were seven people—five men and two women—who sustained various degrees of injuries, while a man and a woman were confirmed dead at the scene.
Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby health facilities for medical treatment. Three of the victims were taken to the Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim, while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the Saltpond Government Hospital mortuary.
The driver of the Toyota Voxy, with registration number AS 8911-25, escaped the crash without injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident, and investigations are underway.
Following the rescue operation, firefighters cleared debris from the roadway to restore traffic flow and reduce the risk of further accidents at the junction.
