Gomoa Central MP narrowly escapes attack by angry New Winneba residents

Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, narrowly escaped an attack by angry residents of New Winneba following a violent clash in the community.

The MP had visited the Effutu North District Police Command to obtain firsthand information about the incident, which reportedly left three people dead and 15 others injured.

The violence is said to have stemmed from a land dispute involving residents of some communities in Gomoa and New Winneba.

A-Plus went to the police command to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the clash and engage with security authorities on measures to address the situation.

However, his presence reportedly angered some residents who had gathered at the police command.

The agitated residents confronted the MP, prompting security personnel to intervene and quickly escort him away from the area to prevent the situation from escalating.

Personnel from the Central Regional Police Command and other security agencies were subsequently deployed to maintain order and ensure the MP’s safety.

Some residents who spoke to Adom News expressed frustration over the incident and raised concerns about the growing tensions surrounding the land dispute.

The situation remains tense, with security agencies working to prevent further clashes and restore calm in New Winneba.
