The Ghana Police Service has promoted Inspector Hance Atubra to the rank of Chief Inspector in recognition of his bravery and decisive intervention during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
Inspector Atubra, who serves at the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters, was formally decorated with his new rank by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 31, 2026.
His promotion follows his actions during the August 26 fire incident, when he put his own life at risk to help save lives and protect property.
The IGP commended the officer for his courage, swift response and commitment to duty, describing his conduct as an example of the professionalism and dedication expected of personnel of the Ghana Police Service.
Inspector Atubra’s actions during the emergency earned him special recognition after he intervened despite the risks involved to assist people affected by the fire and prevent further damage to property.
The Police Administration said the promotion reflects its commitment to rewarding officers who demonstrate exceptional courage, professionalism and dedication while carrying out their duties.
It added that Inspector Atubra’s recognition should serve as an example to other officers and reinforce the importance of selfless service in protecting lives and property.
