Obuasi SHTS case: Police forward docket to Attorney General for advice

The Bekwai Police have completed investigations into a rape complaint filed against the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Zakaria Abdulai, and have submitted the case docket to the Attorney General for study and advice.

Bekwai Police Public Relations Officer ASP Lloyd Baidoo disclosed this in an interview on Adom FM.

He said the Ashanti South Police Command had concluded its probe into the matter and was now awaiting further directives from the Attorney General.

“We have investigated the matter and submitted the docket to the Attorney General for advice for us to follow up. So we are waiting for the Attorney General’s instruction and what further investigation will reveal for us to prosecute or not,” ASP Baidoo stated.

The police spokesperson emphasised that the force would act strictly on any instructions issued by the Attorney General.

ASP Baidoo clarified that the docket currently before the Attorney General relates to a single complaint filed by a student on August 4, 2026.

He noted that the headmaster was arrested following that complaint, granted bail, and remains at home.

“The headmaster is home, and to the best of my knowledge, he has not been arrested. Nothing of that sort has happened,” he said, dismissing reports of a fresh arrest.

On claims involving other students, the police officer said the current case does not cover those allegations.

“In respect of the other matters involving the 19 girls that you are talking about, if they come to police notice, police will subsequently move in and investigate the matter,” he explained.

ASP Baidoo stressed that any additional complaints would be investigated separately once formally reported to the police.
