The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has demanded a retraction and an unqualified apology from former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Hopeson Adorye over a Facebook post allegedly linking him to the ownership of the Ghana Today platform.
Mr Assafuah’s lawyers, Kulendi@Law, issued the demand in a letter dated August 9, 2026, following a post in which Mr Adorye reproduced content originally published by Ghana Today.
According to the lawyers, Mr Adorye introduced the reproduced content by describing the Old Tafo MP as the “originator of Ghana Today podcast.”
They argued that the statement was false and created the impression that Mr Assafuah owns, operates, controls or is responsible for content published by the platform.
The lawyers said their client had instructed them to make it clear that he is neither the owner nor the originator of the Ghana Today podcast and has no authorship, editorial control or involvement in the particular publication shared by Mr Adorye.
The dispute follows an earlier Ghana Today publication that featured Mr Adorye alongside pig imagery, prompting a reaction from him on Facebook.
In responding to the post, Mr Adorye allegedly attributed the publication to the Old Tafo MP and accompanied his response with similar imagery depicting Mr Assafuah alongside a pig.
His post also contained the statement, “I will surely respond in equal measure.”
Mr Assafuah’s lawyers contend that the statement, when considered alongside the alleged attribution of the Ghana Today publication to their client, could give readers the impression that the MP was responsible for the content and should therefore be held accountable for it.
They argued that the post, taken in its entirety, had the potential to expose Mr Assafuah to public ridicule, hostility, criticism and damage to his reputation.
The lawyers have therefore given Mr Adorye 48 hours from the time he receives the letter to remove the disputed post, retract the alleged attribution and issue an unqualified apology to the MP on the same Facebook platform.
They warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would result in their client taking further legal action without additional notice.
Such action, they said, could include pursuing claims for damages and other remedies available under the law.
