The Central North Regional Police Command has rescued a 30-year-old man, Bismark Amoh, who was allegedly kidnapped at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The victim, who was kidnapping on Sunday, September 6, 2026, is currently receiving medical attention as police intensify efforts to arrest the suspected kidnappers.
The suspects initially demanded GH¢45,000 from Bismark’s family and gave them 24 hours to raise the money.
Recordings reportedly sent to the family via WhatsApp showed Bismark stripped naked, tied around his hands, legs and neck, and subjected to severe physical abuse.
In the recordings, Bismark could be heard pleading with his family to urgently raise the money to secure his release.
The suspects allegedly used Bismark’s own mobile phone to communicate with his family through WhatsApp, apparently to conceal their identities and limit digital traces that could aid their identification.
The family subsequently mobilised support from relatives, friends and well-wishers and raised GH¢19,500, which was paid to the suspects.
However, the abductors allegedly refused to release Bismark and instead demanded an additional GH¢30,500, increasing the total ransom demand to GH¢49,500.
The suspects then issued another eight-hour ultimatum and threatened to kill Bismark, burn his body and destroy his phones if the additional amount was not paid.
Police subsequently rescued Bismark and are investigating the alleged abduction to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The Police Command says further details will be communicated as investigations progress.
