The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Abdulai Mohammed Saani, over a provocative TikTok video relating to the death of the late Mion Lana, Mahamaru Abdulai.
The arrest followed the circulation of the video on social media, prompting the Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID) and the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to launch an intelligence-led investigation.
According to the police, efforts were made to identify the individual behind the production and dissemination of the video.
Investigators subsequently traced the suspect to Kumbungu, where he was arrested on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Abdulai Mohammed Saani was later conveyed to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters in Tamale to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The police said investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the production and circulation of the video and establish whether other individuals were involved.
The Northern Regional Police Command has not disclosed further details about the specific content of the video or any potential charges against the suspect as investigations continue.
