Ghana’s political and agricultural sectors have been thrown into mourning following the reported death of former Minister for Food and Agriculture and former Choggu/Tishigu Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Adam.
Mr Adam, an animal scientist and experienced politician, was a prominent figure in the administration of former President Jerry John Rawlings, where he served in key positions, including Agriculture Secretary and later Minister for Food and Agriculture.
He entered Parliament in 1997 as the representative for the Choggu/Tishigu Constituency and served until 2001.
After his time in active politics, Ibrahim Adam continued to contribute to Ghana’s agricultural and financial sectors. He later became Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).
His passing has attracted tributes from political figures and stakeholders who have acknowledged his contribution to public service, agriculture and national development.
Sagnarigu MP Atta Issah is among those who have reacted to the news, paying tribute to the former minister and politician.
The cause of death has not yet been officially disclosed, and further details are expected to emerge as arrangements are made to announce his passing formally.
