An Accra Circuit Court has granted Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as Koka, bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties following allegations that he threatened staff of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) with death.
The court ordered the two sureties to be residents within its jurisdiction. It also directed Asiedu to deposit his passport and a photocopy of his Ghana Card at the court registry.
He has further been ordered to report to the case investigator on the last Friday of every month.
The case has been adjourned to November 3, 2026.
Asiedu, described as a communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), earlier pleaded not guilty to charges of threat of death, offensive conduct and publication of false information.
The court also rescinded a bench warrant that had previously been issued for his arrest.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu told the court that the complainants in the case were staff members of EOCO.
According to the prosecution, Asiedu was invited for questioning on July 14, 2026, after a video allegedly containing threats against EOCO personnel circulated on various social media platforms.
The prosecution said the video, which was recorded on May 29, 2026, captured Asiedu allegedly threatening EOCO staff.
“We know the officers’ houses, we know where they stay and will kill you,” he was alleged to have said.
The prosecution further accused Asiedu of appearing in another video on July 13, 2026, in which he allegedly claimed that there was “an order from above, the Presidency” preventing anyone from taking food to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who was then in EOCO custody assisting with investigations.
The prosecution argued that the alleged publication was intended to mislead the public and provoke a breach of the peace, while undermining the lawful work of EOCO officials.
It further told the court that following the alleged threats, the driver of EOCO’s Executive Director was reportedly chased by about 20 unidentified men riding motorbikes who allegedly intended to harm him.
According to the prosecution, the incidents created fear among EOCO personnel and affected their ability to carry out their lawful duties.
Asiedu was subsequently arrested and, after being cautioned, allegedly admitted to the offences.
