The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is exploring legal options to secure the early release of nurse Salomey Awiti Bafoh, who has been remanded in connection with the Ghana Jollof case.
The Association said its leadership is engaging the nurse’s lawyers as it considers available legal remedies following her latest appearance before the Adenta Circuit Court.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 18, 2026, the GRNMA said its First Vice President, Samuel Alagkora Akolgo, Esq., led a delegation to the court on Thursday, September 17, to express solidarity with Ms Bafoh during the proceedings.
The Association said the court subsequently ordered that Ms Bafoh remain in custody despite arguments put forward by her legal team.
“The leadership of the Association is in touch with her lawyers to explore all legal remedies for her early release,” the GRNMA stated.
Ms Bafoh is expected to return to court on September 28, 2026, as proceedings in the case continue.
The GRNMA urged its members to remain calm but resolute while its national leadership works with the legal team to address what it described as a legal hurdle.
“Further communications will be issued as developments unfold,” the Association added.
Ms Bafoh, a principal nursing officer, is facing legal proceedings over her alleged connection to the Ghana Jollof case.
Her remand has attracted attention from professional and other groups, with calls for due process to be followed as the allegations against her are determined through the appropriate legal process.
