The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is today, Saturday, August 15, 2026, conducting its regional executive elections as part of efforts to reorganise its structures and strengthen its grassroots base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Delegates in regions across the country are voting to elect new regional executives who will be responsible for coordinating party activities and implementing its programmes at the regional level.
The elections form part of the NPP’s broader internal reorganisation exercise, which has already seen the party conduct polling station and constituency-level elections.
To promote a credible and orderly process, the party has deployed representatives from its national leadership to the various regions to monitor the elections and ensure compliance with approved electoral guidelines.
The national representatives are expected to observe the conduct of the polls, encourage transparency and fairness, and submit reports on the exercise, including any incidents or irregularities.
The NPP has also instructed Regional Executive Elections Committees to ensure that the elections are conducted professionally while maintaining discipline at all voting centres.
A number of candidates are competing for key positions, including Regional Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Coordinator.
The regional elections are being closely monitored as the NPP seeks to rebuild its organisational structures and strengthen its grassroots presence following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
The outcome of the exercise is expected to shape the party’s regional leadership and preparations as it works towards the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Results are expected to be declared after voting and the collation of ballots have been completed in the respective regions.
