The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the fatal shooting of a 54-year-old man and the injury of his wife at Tuba, near Weija, in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Beach Drive Estate in Tuba.
Police said the Weija Police Station received a report that a man and his wife had sustained gunshot wounds at the estate. A team of officers was subsequently dispatched to the location to investigate.
Upon arrival, the officers found Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife, 53-year-old Christiana Fosu, outside their four-bedroom apartment with gunshot wounds.
The couple was immediately transported to Finney Hospital at Weija for medical attention. However, Mohammed Rahman was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His wife, Christiana Fosu, was later transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is responding to treatment.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
As part of investigations, police said Adams Adder Almeida allegedly confessed to firing the shots that hit the couple.
According to police, the suspect claimed that he was angered by what he perceived as repeated remarks from the deceased, who allegedly described him as “lazy and useless”. He reportedly told investigators that the comments had negatively affected him mentally.
Following the alleged confession, Adams reportedly led investigators to a room at the Beach Drive Estate occupied by his brother, Bala Bilyon.
Police said a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was subsequently recovered from beneath the wall drop of the room.
Investigations have established that the two suspects live together in the same room at Tuba.
Adams allegedly told investigators that the firearm had been given to him by a friend identified only as Gideon.
He subsequently accompanied investigators to Gideon’s residence in Tuba in an attempt to locate him. However, police said Gideon was not at home when the team arrived.
The police have since launched efforts to locate Gideon to assist with the investigation, while Bala Bilyon remains in custody and is being interrogated.
The arrests were carried out with support from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
