A rescue operation by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Wa has led to the recovery of the body of a man found in a water-filled open drainage system at SSNIT Residence.
The deceased, identified as Eric Adams and believed to be in his late 30s, was discovered floating in the drain on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The incident occurred opposite Frimps Oil Filling Station after D/PW/C Inspector Diana Anaaba placed a distress call to the Wa Municipal Fire Station.
A seven-member rescue team was subsequently dispatched to the scene to retrieve the body.
Firefighters entered the water-filled drainage system and successfully recovered the lifeless body, which was later handed over to the Police for further investigation.
Family members from Woggu later arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as Eric Adams.
However, the circumstances leading to his presence in the drainage system remain unknown.
The Police are expected to investigate the incident to determine how Mr Adams ended up in the drain and establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
