The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), in a statement issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, said the Ghana Immigration Service had confirmed that the officer was no longer stationed at the airport.
The development follows growing concerns over allegations of extortion involving some officials operating at the Accra International Airport.
GACL said it had taken note of the viral footage and welcomed confirmation from the Immigration Service that the officer involved had been transferred from the facility.
Meanwhile, two Port Health officers have also been sanctioned after they were allegedly caught charging a foreign passport holder more than the approved fee for a Yellow Fever Card.
According to GACL, the incident occurred on August 5, 2026, at Terminal 3, where the two officers allegedly demanded $40 from the passenger instead of the authorised $20 fee for foreign passport holders.
The approved charge for Ghanaian passport holders is GH¢100.
GACL said the two officers were subjected to immediate administrative action following the incident.
Their identification cards, which authorised them to operate within the terminal, have been withdrawn and deactivated.
The company further disclosed that, effective Thursday, August 6, the officers had been prohibited from working at the Accra International Airport as well as any other airport managed by GACL.
GACL stressed that it considers allegations of extortion at the airport a serious matter and said personnel operating within the facility are subject to monitoring.
The company has therefore encouraged passengers who encounter similar incidents to document them and report the cases to the appropriate authorities for investigation and action.
