Mahama commends police over decline in unresolved murders, highway robberies

President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Ghana Police Service for its efforts to improve public safety, citing a reduction in unresolved murder cases and highway robberies as evidence of progress in the fight against crime.

He commended the police administration for its work and urged officers to sustain their efforts to protect lives and property.

President Mahama made the remarks on Tuesday, October 13, during the commissioning of an 85-bed ward complex at the Police Hospital in Accra.

“This police administration is doing a yeoman’s job and as Commander-in-Chief and President of the Republic, I want to express the gratitude of our nation to all of you and urge you to keep up the good work,” he said.

The President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing the Police Service with the logistical support required to perform its duties effectively.

He said Ghana’s reputation as a safe destination had contributed to the country’s appeal to visitors, particularly within the West African sub-region.

“It is no wonder everybody wants to visit Ghana, because people say it is the safest country in the whole of West Africa, and I can assure you that we will continue to provide you with the logistics that you need to continue to do your job,” he added.

President Mahama’s remarks underscore the government’s support for the police as they work to strengthen public safety and address criminal activities across the country.
