The Ghana Police Service has foiled an attempted robbery at a GCB Bank branch at Labone in Accra, leaving two suspected robbers dead and another in police custody.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when police officers intervened to prevent the robbery at the bank.
According to the Police, two of the suspects were shot dead during the operation, while a third suspect was arrested.
In a brief statement, the Police Service confirmed the incident, stating that its personnel successfully foiled the robbery attempt.
“Two suspects have been gunned down and one has been arrested,” the Police said.
The identities of the deceased and the arrested suspect have not yet been disclosed.
The Police Service said further details on the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery and the identities of those involved would be communicated in due course.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
