The court order, issued on Monday, August 3, prohibits any withdrawals or transactions involving the affected bank accounts. It also restrains the sale, transfer, mortgage or any other form of disposal of the identified properties until further directives are issued by the court.
The order was granted following an application by EOCO, which is investigating Mr. Aboagye over alleged financial and procurement irregularities during his tenure at IMCCoD.
Investigators are examining transactions estimated at about GH¢55 million to determine whether public funds were mismanaged or procurement laws were breached.
The asset preservation order is intended to ensure that properties and funds linked to the investigation remain intact while the probe is ongoing. Under Ghanaian law, investigative agencies are empowered to seek such orders where there is reason to believe assets may be connected to suspected economic or organised crime.
EOCO’s investigation forms part of broader efforts to establish whether any financial misconduct occurred and to safeguard assets that may become relevant in future legal proceedings.
Mr. Aboagye has denied all allegations against him, maintaining that he acted lawfully throughout his time in office and has committed no offence.
He has since been granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties, while investigations into the case continue.
