Five arrested in police swoop on suspected robbery and landguard syndicate in Sapeiman

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five people suspected of belonging to a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in armed robbery and landguard activities at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects were picked up on Friday, July 17, 2026, during a targeted intelligence-led operation carried out by officers from the Accra Regional Police Command with support from the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID).

In a statement issued on Monday, July 20, police named the suspects as 50-year-old Torgbui Agah Semaglo, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26, and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are part of a group believed to be behind a series of armed robbery and landguard operations in Sapeiman and nearby communities.

A search conducted during the operation led to the seizure of several items, including a pump-action shotgun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a replica Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round, a talisman and two kitchen knives.

Police believe the recovered weapons and other items were used to intimidate and terrorise residents within the affected communities.

According to the statement, all the items seized have been retained as evidence to support the ongoing investigations.

The five suspects remain in police custody as investigators continue to examine their alleged involvement in other criminal activities, including armed robbery cases in the region.

The Police also disclosed that efforts are continuing to identify and arrest other members of the suspected criminal network.

The Accra Regional Police Command commended members of the public for providing intelligence that led to the successful operation and encouraged residents to continue sharing information on suspicious activities through the nearest police station or the emergency response channels.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against criminal groups and maintaining law and order throughout the Greater Accra Region.
