Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, has been appointed Chairperson of the Vetting Committee for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming national executive elections.
She will lead a committee comprising several senior figures of the party, tasked with screening and vetting aspirants seeking to contest various positions in the national executive elections.
Other members of the committee include former Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu-Ankomah; former Minister of State, Elizabeth Ohene; former Minister of Railways Development, Joe Ghartey; and former Chief Executive Officer of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr Kofi Osafo-Maafo.
The committee also includes former Ashanti Regional Minister S. K. Boafo and Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Baffour Agyei Bawuah, among other party stalwarts.
The vetting exercise is expected to determine the eligibility of aspirants ahead of the party’s national executive elections and form part of the NPP’s preparations for the internal contest.
The party is scheduled to open nominations for the elections from August 17 to 22, 2026, while the national elections are expected to take place on October 3, 2026.
The appointment of the committee marks an important step in the NPP’s preparations as potential candidates gear up to compete for the various national executive positions.
