Aspiring National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, has declared that the party’s youth wing is prepared to make significant sacrifices to ensure Dr Mahamudu Bawumia wins the 2028 presidential election.
According to him, the NPP youth are determined to return the party to power and will go to any length to campaign for Dr Bawumia, whom he believes can rescue Ghana from what he described as the destruction under the current administration.
“If we have to go to hell to campaign for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to become President in 2028 to take Ghana from this destruction, we will do so. We are ready to sacrifice for the NPP to come back to power to save Ghana from this destruction called reset,” he said.
Adenta Kumi made the remarks after filing his nomination to contest the NPP National Youth Organiser position.
He criticised the current government over what he alleged were excessive expenditures, including the use of private jets, luxury vehicles and large security entourages.
“We have seen them buying private jets. We’ve seen the luxury cars, the unnecessary bodyguards, chopping Ghana’s money,” he alleged.
The NPP youth organiser aspirant also vowed that members of the party would not be intimidated by arrests or threats, insisting that they would continue to speak out against the government.
“If we are arrested 100 times, we will speak the truth 500 times,” he stated.
He further pledged to provide resources for youth organisers across the country to strengthen the NPP’s grassroots campaign ahead of the 2028 elections.
According to him, the support would include motorbikes and pickup vehicles to enable youth organisers to effectively operate in their respective constituencies.
“Whatever we have to do, if we have to buy motorbikes for the youth organisers, we will do so. If we have to get them pickups to work, we will do so. We will find every resource for the youth organisers to work,” he assured.
Adenta Kumi said his decision to contest the position was motivated by a desire to serve the party rather than self-promotion.
He pointed to the support he received during the filing of his nomination, including the presence of more than 200 motor riders, as evidence of the enthusiasm among the youth for his campaign.
“God appoints a leader in every season. Salt does not praise itself. Look around, look at the people. The numbers will tell you that we are ready to sacrifice. We are ready to do everything for NPP to get majority in Parliament,” he said.
He also pledged to collaborate with the youth wing and the media to counter what he described as propaganda, falsehoods and intimidation allegedly being used by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Adenta Kumi’s campaign is centred on strengthening the NPP’s youth structures, equipping grassroots organisers and mobilising young people ahead of the party’s bid to return to power in 2028.
