President John Dramani Mahama has introduced another round of changes to his administration, reassigning two officials and appointing a new minister to oversee the Labour, Employment and Job Creation portfolio.
The latest changes come less than three weeks after the President announced a major reshuffle on August 8, 2026, as his administration continues to realign key government positions.
Under the new arrangement, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo has been moved from the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Job Creation to serve as Minister of State for Special Initiatives.
He will be replaced at the Labour Ministry by Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South, who has been appointed the new Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.
Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Brogya Genfi has also been reassigned to the Presidency, where he will serve as Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
The changes were announced in a statement signed by Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
“President John Dramani Mahama has made the following changes to his Government. Hon. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo has been reassigned as Minister of State for Special Initiatives, while Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum replaces him as Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation,” the statement said.
It added that Mr Genfi had been reassigned as Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness, with all the changes taking immediate effect.
Second reshuffle in August
The latest appointments constitute the second major adjustment to President Mahama’s government this month.
In the first reshuffle announced on August 8, the President nominated Mahama Ayariga as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
Ahmed Ibrahim was also reassigned from the Local Government Ministry to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, while Kenneth Gilbert Adjei was moved from Works and Housing to the Ministry of Defence.
The latest changes further alter the composition of the government as President Mahama seeks to position key officials in portfolios aligned with his administration’s priorities.
